COMMERCIAL.
There were two auction sales held yesterday at the same time, which probably tended rather to the injury of both. One of these was a sale of land and freehold pro* perty at the Steam Mill, including the Steam Mill itself, by Mr V. Janiseh. We understand that the Mill was not sold, but eight sections of land were disposed of. The other was a sale of general merchandise by Mr John Stuart, at the stores of Messrs Stuart and Co. on th® Spit. We believe the attendance at both of the above was good, but cannot say that satisfactory prices were obtained.
