R.BSU3IE FOR THE MONTH. Business during the last week, incident uj»on the holidays, no doubt, has been exceedingly quiet. The early part op the mouth was characterized by considerable activity, owing to the inland demand. The roads are now in a very bad state from the late excessive rains, and some little time must ensue before they arc passable.

Several auction sales have been held, but although many goods have heeu sacrificed at them, it is almost impossible to collect an audience. Every one is full of supplies, and the tightness af money prevents any further speculation.
