We regret very much to hear of the resignation of Mr. Weber, our Provincial Engineer ; but we are not much surprised at it. For a man of character and reputation to hold an appointment under Mr. M’Lean’s government for any time is not to be expected ; such men don’t suit him at any price. The only sort of people who can get on with the present administration, are those poor worthless creatures who can only live on the smiles of great men, and to whom the eating [of dirt is an habitual thing. 1 Without entering into particulars'as to the cause of Mr. Weber’s sudden resignation, our readers may be sure that he is in the right, and that the Provincial Government, as a matter of course, is in the wrong.
