She had fortyseven passengers, and £50,000 in specie, besides a small general cargo. The New South Wales Ministry have been defeated, and a dissolution of Parliament has followed. Latest news from Mauritius states that a proposal had been made for the emigration of creoles to Northern Australia, to cultivate sugar. It has been suggested in Adelaide to enforce the Militia act of 1857, instead of continuing the Volunteer Force, owing to the recent disclosures of Russian policy. At the swimming match at Adelaide on 3rd November, Primrose was again the winner of the champion belt. The shock of an earthquake was felt at Port Adelaide on the night of November 4th, and one on the following day. A party of bushrangers attacked the Northern mail coach near Singleton, New South Wales, on sth Nov. Constable Beattie, a passenger, fired on the robbers. It is supposed that one was wounded. The others bolted, and the mails escaped.
