ANNIVERSARY HOLIDAYS.

The celebration of the sixth anniversary of the separation of this Province from Wellington took place on Tuesday and Wednesday last. The first day was boisterous and rainy, and the people were confined to their homes, in consequence. Wednesday, however, was beautifully fine, and the townspeople turned out fur pleasure. The first thing we have to notice was a match at cricket, played in Clive Square between two sides chosen on the ground, Capt. Curling’s team proving victorious. In the afternoon, the green in front of Mr. Gill’s, Masonic Hotel, was the great centre of attraction, especially for the military, who were the principal competitors in the Rural Sports, which resulted as follows: Circular Race, of about -100 yards.
