CORRESPONDENCE
To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times.
Sir, —Mr. Sealy, iu explaining the reasons for refusing the use of the hall of the Mechanics’ Institute for the purpose of holding a ball, thus concludes, — “ The Committee feel it necessary to be more cautious, in consequence of their having bad reason to regret letting the hall for a ball on a former occasion.” Will Mr. Sealy be a little more explicit and let the public know to what former ball he refers ? * I was present at one ball held at the place alluded to and can speak to the perfect decorum with which it was conducted, and if more than one have taken place at the Institute it is only right that the members if not the public, should know which has been offensive to the Committee, and in what respect. I am, &c., Enquirer. May 27, 1864.
