SUPREME COURT.
The half-yearly sittings of this Court were opened on Monday last. His Honor Mr. Justice Johnston took his seat at 10 a.m. The following gentlemen were then sworn as the Grand Jury,—Messrs. J. Anderson (foreman), S. Begg, S. G. Braudon, J. B. Brathwaite, A. Browne, J. Buchanan, J. Chambers, G. T. Fannin, M. Fitzgerald, A. Irvine, Y. Janisch, A. Kennedy, J. G. Kinross, W. Maltby, W. Miller, T. Powdrell, J. Reynolds, J. Rhodes, W. Rich, G. E. G. Richardson, J. M. Stuart, F. Sutton, H. S. Tiffen, E. Tuke. There being no criminal case for trial, the Sheriff, according to custom, presented His Honor with a pair of white gloves. Hxs Honor then proceeded to address the Grand Jury, congratulating the Province upon the absence of crime and the social improvements "which had been made since his last visit. His honor also reverted to the present unsettled state of our relations with the natives, and concluded by noticing the various Judicial Acts which were passed during last session of the Assembly. The petty jury were also called, and discharged, and the court adjourned.
