SUTTON. Napier, October 22, 1863. The 68th and 43rd Regiments. —The Southern Cross of the 16th inst. states that the 68th Regiment is expected here in the Lady Jocelyn, which had proceeded to Rangoon for the purpose of embarking it. The 43rd is to come from Calcutta, and both regiments are probably now on their way to Auckland. The harvest in England is of extraordinary quality and abundance. Ax Editor’s Duties. —The preparation of a constantly recuring periodical work, especially if conjoined with other duties, is a sure means of making time fly fast. There is no cessation—no pause—the task is never done—the mind never unoccupied. “I’ll leave it to-morrow” cannot be said ; pleasing loiterings must not be hoped for • it is on, on, till the account is closed, so the years’ ends come along before they are looked for. An editor’s duties, even in a case comparatively unimportant, are onerous and unthankful. If he step out manfully, he can scarcely avoid treading, on somebody’s toes, who will make a point of neverorgetting it; whilst those on whom he may bestow commendation, even if nothing more substantial during his journey, will quietly place it all to theirown merit.— Builder.
