The siege of Charleston is suspended. Lee and Meade s armies confront each other at Rapid an. Gold thirty-eight per cent premium. A Confederate loan of twenty-two millions announced.
Milt amoras is occcupied by French troops. Collision at Rio Grande between the French and Federal gunboats is expected.
The cession of Texas to France for French lecognition of the Southern Confederacy is rumoured.
It is probable England will recognise the Poles as belligerents. Earl Russell declares Russia has forfeited her title to Poland—a declaration applauded by the French press. Federal execution (?) in Holstein authorised by the Frankfort diet.
The Auckland loan is all taken up. The Great Eastern has been seized under Admiralty warrant. Her transference to the Australian trade is suggested. A rupture between Germany and Denmark is expected. Consols, 93J. Sugar, a shilling down.
