AT A MEETING held pursuant to notice in the Council Chamber o u the Oth inst., at at which were present—Messrs. Canning, Tiffen, Tanner, AULean, Major Whitmore, M. Fitzgerald, Tuke, Price, Ferguson, Wilson, Anderson, Kinross, Duff, Marshall, Wat:, Brooke Taylor, Knowles, and several others. The notice convening the meeting having been read, it was moved by Mr. Anderson and seconded by Mr Tuke, that his Honor the Superintendent do take the chair. His Honor accordingly took the chair. The List of Subscribers was produced by the Provisional Secretary, by which it appeared that the Society consists of 67 members up to this date. Letters of apology from the Hon. H.Russelland others having been read, the following resolutions were passed:— It was moved by Sir. Canning, and seconded by Mr. Tanner, “That this Society be called the “Hawke’s Bay Agricultural Society.’ ” It was moved by Major Whitmore and seconded by Mr. Kinross, “That this Society be governed by a President, a Vice President, and 12 Directors, oi whom 5 be nominated to form a Committee to carry out the details of the measures resolved upon by the Directors.” It was proposed by Mr. Tiffen and seconded by .I*. Smith be requested to act as Secretary and Treasurer, and that should he decline, that the President may appoint a gentleman to that office.” It was moved by Mr. Canning and seconded by Mr. Duff, “That the Annual Exhibition of the Society be held at Havelock.” It was moved by Major Whitmore and seconded by Mr. Canning, “That the Superintendent be petitioned to grant the use of a site at Havelock for holding the Annual Exhibition of the Society.” It was proposed by Mr. Ferguson and seconded by Mr. Kinross, “That the Annual Subscription to the Society be one guinea. It was proposed by Mr. Tanner and seconded by Air. Tuke, “ That a list for voluntary subscriptions to defray the expense of enclosing the land and erecting yard, bo left at the Banks - It was proposed by Air. Tanner and seconded by Mr. Taylor, “That the Directors be requested to collect subscriptions to the Society and to pay the amount to the Treasurer.” It was moved by Air. Canning and seconded by Air. Wilson, “That the Judges of the Society be chosen by the Directors, and that no Judge shall be an exhibitor in the class for which ho is Judge.” It was moved by Air. Taylor and seconded by Air. Kinross, “That the Directors be requestedjn form a code of Regulations for this Society.” It was moved by Air. Canning and seconded by Air Ferguson, “That (lie proceedings be published in the local papers.”; It was proposed by Alajor Whitmore and seconded by Air. Wilson, “That the Chairman bo requested to leave the chair and that Air. Ferguson should take it.” A vote of thanks having been given to His Honor for his conduct in the chair and to Alajor Whitmore for acting as Provisional Secretary, the meeting separated.
