Yesterday afternoon at about four o'clock a very beautiful waterspout was observed to descend from a squall cloud over the north side of the Waiheki passage, near to Taylor’s island, and passing in a southerly direction, trailing its spiral watery tail up the Tamaki, where it suddenly dissipated after having been in view several minutes, while traversing its progressive whirling course. These are rare phenomena, here, and no doubt where it passed we shall hear of their having had a heavy fall of rain.— Daily Southern Cross, Feb. 18.
