CANTERBURY.

A fire occurred at Lyttelton on the 10th inst., causing the total destruction of Messrs. Hall, Richie, & Co.’s warehouse.

The nomination of the new Superintendent is to take place on the sth March. If a poll is demanded, it will be taken on the 20th of the same month. The only candidate, as far as we gather from our files, is a Mr. Bealey, whose return will probably be unopposed. A very influential committee has been formed to secure his return.

Sheep are quoted at from 295. to 31s. per head. Store cattle, £9 to £9 9s. Fat cattle, 40s. to 455. per lOOlbs. Flour in 200 lb. bags, £l4 per ton.
