LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
SroKTixr..—Some degree of interest was manifested on Saturday last concerning a match between Mr. Hunter’s “ Brown Stout,” and Mr. Parker’s “Newton,” for £lO aside ; distance, half a mile. The first named horse has been for some time in training for the forthcoming races. A goodly number of people found their way to the beach at the hour of starting, The horses got off at the first attempt and kept well together for the first quarter ot a mile, but the little horse “ Newton,” now gradually gained ground, and came in an easy winner by several lengths. Town Election. -We would remind our readers that Tuesday next (to-morrow) is the nomination day.
