List of Officers of H.M.S. Orpheus. —The following list of the officers of this ill-fated vessel is taken from the “Navy List for 1862,” and no alteration, with the exception of Lieutenant D. D. Young, who was on his way to join H.M.S. Miranda, to which vessel he was transferred, has taken place since its compilation : —Commodore, William F. Burnett, C. 8.; Secretary, W. H. P. M. Gillham; Commander, Robert H. Burton; Lieutenants, W. T. P. Mndge—Duke D. Young; additional, Arthur Jekyll—Charles Hill; Master, William D. Strong; additional, James Jefferey ; Ist Lieutenant Royal Marino Artillery, E. H. Hill; Chaplain and Naval Instructor, Eev. Chas. Hazlewood; Pay-master, Edw. Amplilete ; Chief Engineer, Samuel Stevens; Surgeon, John M. Tronson, M.D.; Assist, do., Mathew Coates; Asst.-Paymastor, Archibald D. Johnston. The Orpheus carried 21 guns, was of 400 horse-power, and 1706 tons.— Advertiser, Feb. 14.
NELSON. The intelligence received per Wonga Wonga, is up to tho 10th inst. The B idler diggings continue productive, the steamer Lyttelton having arrived from the West Coast on the 9th, with 2SI ounces of gold including several new nuggets. Immediate steps are being taken to establish a new land route to the diggings.

St. Hill, Esq., of this city~~bv Mr. O. C. McGhee, can, be hacked to run any horse, marc, or gelding, in New Zealand, three miles; or one and a-half mile, weight for age for from £SOO to £looo.— Advertiser, Feb. 14. ’ Thatch eh.- .A n Otago Daily Times, of recent date, says The “inimitable Thatcher” has returned to his Dunedin pastures, but whether to pursue his profession again or not we do not know. A rather singular paragraph, concerning him, lately appeared in the Bendigo Advertiser, in which it was stated that he had been committed to prison for 3 mouths for exercising his travesting powers on His Excellency the Governor. The report is an utter emtard, and Mr. Thatcher has commenced to take proceedings for what he considers an injurious libel.”— Advertiser, Feb. 10.
