The Province is very much indebted to the gentlemen who have taken such an active part in getting GO mounted police for the purpose of enforcing the law. We, however, much as we esteem the motives which actuated those gentlemen, doubt whether the auxiliary force in question will answer the anticipated end. The question is, will they or will they not assist the magistracy in enforcing obedience to the law and to their authority. If so, good ! If not, then the last state of the Province is worse than the first. We, however, will discuss this question more at length shortly.
