NELSON.
SportiKg.— The mares Ultima and Ladybird were shipped on Saturday last, by the Airedale for Canterbury, where both will appear at tho ensuing meeting, in charge of Mr. H. Stafford, that gentleman haring hired Mr. Redwood’s cbesuut for the occasion. Both of these mares are engaged in the Champion Race, in March, so that they will be sent forward to Dunedin after running at Canterbury. Waimea is being reserved for the great event, and will be sent to Dunedin from Nelson in about a month.— Examiner , Jan. 7. Imported Horses. —The Colonist of the 3rd inst., says:—We hear that some of the splendid animals imported by W. Robinson, Esq., and which arrived by the Waterlily last week, have been disposed of at much advanced prices. Golden Grape, a dark brown entire, has been purchased by Major Newcome, for £I,OOO, and others have been parted with at similar advances.
