TO O. L. W. BOUSFIELD, Esq.,
(Per favor of Editor of IlairJce's Bay Times.) Sm, —Alien “An Elector,” some 15 months ago, put certain questions to you through the medium of the Hawke s Bay Times, concerning the partial execution of the Native Land Purchase Ordinance, it was done with the idea and in the belief that you had it in your power to give such an explanation as that which lias just appeared, and as the questions were asked in good faith and pro hono publico, “ An Elector” thinks that if such an explanation had been given then the feeling of the settlers of the province towards Mr. M‘Lean would not have been quite so cordial as it seems to have been. However, as your explanation lias come at length, and is, as far as regards your own conduct in the affair, quite satisfactory, it is accepted as such, and “ better late than never.” With much respect, I remain. Yours, &c., An Elector.
