REMOVAL OF THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT QUESTION.
In the House of Representatives, on Thursday, evening, Mr. Dick moved the resolution with respect to the Scat of Government, which was seconded hy Major 1 iehardson,and in a long and aide speech opposed by Mr. Stafford. Mr. Y\ alt (Taranaki) moved an amendment to the effect that the’Seat of Government should be removed at the earliest possible period consistent with the circumstances of the Colony: the amendment was not seconded, and Mr. Watt subsequently left the House. Mr. Henderson spoke against the resolution, and Mr. Crosbie Ward expressed his intention of voting for it. Mr. Dime replied, and at a quarter of two o’clock a.m., the House divided with the following result; —Ayes, 22, Noes, 23. °
