To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times . Sm, —I remember having read in your columns, some time about the close of last year, a notice to ruuholders, to the effect that all rents due to the Government for runs must be paid on or before the 31st of March, otherwise such runs would be forfeited. Was this notice a joke on the part of our Superintendent ? If. not,‘how has it happened that so many runholders were permitted to leave their rents unpaid so late as the 29th of April (in some cases the rent for two years) ? Supposing the Superintendent was not joking, by what authority does Mr. Tiffen still issue orders to the receiver of land revenue to receive the rents of the favored few. Yours truly, A Runuolder. Napier, 15th June, 1862.
