CANTERBURY.

On Sunday evening Lyttelton was visited by a sevei-e gale, accompanied with heavy rain, from the south-west. A good deal of damage was done among the boats, and one or two of the small craft suffered. The ketch Waterlihj lost her jibboom and had her bulwarks stove in. A punt and large whaleboat belonging to Mr. Waterworth at the head ol the bay, were driven shore, the latter being broken up ; a large boat, the property of the staff of the Lyttelton Times , slipped her moorings and was destroyed on the rocks; several boats belonging to the watermen were more or less damage. The weather continued bad till Monday night, when the wind moderated. —Lyttelton Times, April 23. The following results of the late census, for the districts named below are shown :
