I 2 * PURSUANCE of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “ The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I, Peter Bourke, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Te Auto, do hereby give noticethat by virtue of a Writ bearing date the twentythird day of December, 1861, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of tlie Province of Hawke’s Bay, an election will be held for the return of one qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay for the said Electoral District in lieu of Henry Stokes Tiffen, Esq., whose seat has been declared vacant in consequence of his having accepted a seat I 'c P xeci, tive Council, aud that the nomination of Candidates will take place at the Rev. S. Williams Woolshed, r J e Aute, on Monday, the 6th day of January, 1862 ; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on Thursday, the Pth day of on Monday, the 13th day of January, ISG2.
