To the Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times. Sir, —Seeing the manner inwhich“O.P.S.” has summed up the case of “Government Salaries and Retrenchment,” in last Saturday’s Herald , it only remains for “Ahuriri,” “The Last of the Tribunes,” “Paul Pry,” “John Begg,” and myself, to plead guilty, and give up the ghost, and then perhaps, if you were to humble yourself a little and seek his gracious pardon, the Times might perhaps he left to speak and live. I have hut to refer him again to my letter, trusting that he will not come to such a “floundering” conclusion upon it after a second perusal, although it may be a convenient one, before I have anything more to say to him. I am, Sir, Yours, &c. Non-Official .
