PUBLIC ATTENTION is called to Clause 6 of the Dog Nuisance Act, Province of Wellington, Session 4, No. 18, viz., “ It shall be lawful for any person or persons to destroy any unregistered dog or dogs without collars* being at large in streets and public places ; and for any person to destroy or cause to be destroyed such dog or dogs trespassing on his promises.” It is hereby notified that on and after the 14th December, 1861, the Police will receive orders to carry the provision of the Act into effect. IN PURSUANCE of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Provincial Elections Act, 1858,” I William Henry Hunter, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Porangahau, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ bearing date the sixteenth day of November, 1861, issued under the hand of "his Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, an Election will be held for the return of, one qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay for the said Electoral District, and that the nomination of Candidates will take place at Porangahau on the 3rd day of December, 1861; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on the sth day of December, 1861; and the state of the Poll declared on the 7th day of December, 1861.
