H Trucks Freed of Control

WELLINGTON. Oct. 9.

The Minister of Transport, the Hon. J. O'Brien, announces that those emergency regulations have been revoked whereby all H-plate trucks were brought under the Transport Licensing Act even when not plying for hire or reward. "These ancillary user trucks," said the Minister, "were brought under control as a war measure to save petrol and tyre consumption The Government has taken the earliest possible opportunity of relaxing this control and a licence under the transport legis • lation is not now required for earrying one's own goods unless transpori is for a greater distance than 30 miles over u railway route."
