CATS "PLUNKET SOCIETY"

Hastings Householder's Experience One household in Hastings with kindly feelings towards cats had an unusual experience during the Christmas holiday period. There are three cats as pets of the household and all three gave birth to litters during the holiday period. The nominal head of the house felt compelled to reduce the population somewhat and decided to retain only the litter of three of a Persian cat. The ex'termination of the remainder of the kittens duly took place, and, as solace to the mothers deprived of their offspring, he separated the three kittens, so as to provide each cat with a kitten. Each family was given a separate box and the man of the house felt quite pleased with himself, having satisfied, he thought, the yearnings of the cats and the pleas of the younger members of his own family. The cats. however. had other ideas.on the subject. The following morning all three kittens were in one box and with them were the three cats, and a more peaceful and happy looking community could not be pictured. The kittens on a great win, for all three motners take turns in satisfying their wants, and at no time is there less than two mothers in Ihe box with them. "And aren't those kittens fat," chuckled the householder. "It's a real feline Plunket Society outfit now."
