AUCIfLAND, This Day. "Pretty cheeky, wasn't it," commented thq Magistrate, Mr, F. K. Hunt, when the police explained a charge against James Ivan Turner, aged 38, a wharf labourer, of carrying on the business of bookmaker at Ellerslie on Monday. "This man and his penciller took up a position undor the board where the dividends are posted," said DetecUveiSergcant McHugh. "He was doing big business and paying a limit of £10 for first and £3 for second horse, He had taken 50 bets ranging from 2/6 to £1 and had £23 in his possession when caught.
