For the purpose of strengthening the Poarl Harbour fleet of the Hawaiian air base the navylias advanced the date scheduled for the fliglit of 12, powerful patrol- |)ombera to the Pacific outposts from February "to about midJanuary. " It is also hinted that the flight might involve six more than a full squadron of planes, or a total of 18. Officers refused to discuss whethcr the date advancemont resulted from the situation in the Orient, but indicated that the posgibility of sending six additional planes resulted from the navy's desire to equip the Hawaiian base squadrons with spare planes as rapidly as thev are conBtructed.
