Dropped Match in Tin of Blasting Powder L0C-SPLITTING ACCIDENT When a match with which he had just lit a cigarette dropped into a tin of blasting powder, Mr. . T. Tapp, employed on a wood-cutting contract at Rukumoana, near Te Pohue, vas badly burned yesterday afternoon. Mr. Tapp, with some other men, was working with Mr. G. Chambers, a cpntractor, and at the time of the acqident was engaged in splitting timber, the powder being used in the log-splitting gun. When Mr. Tapp dropped the match, the powder ignited and flared up, burning his chest, arms and faqe, The ambulance was cal'iid from Napier, and the injured sian was brought to the Napier Hospital, where for a time he was unconscious. However, he was reported to be a little better this morning, and is making satisfaetory progress towards recovery.
