LILY-OF-THE-VALLEY SATIN WORN BY A NAPIER BRIDE
ELLIOTT— SWINBURNE St.. John's Cathedral, Napier, was beautifuily decorated with palms, liiies and cinerarias last evening for the wedding of Dorothy Betty, only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs W. E. St. Clair Swinbui •, c£ Auckland, and Ivor Lewis, younger son of Major and Mrs H..F. EUiott, of Nelson. The bride, who entered the church with her uncle, Mr II. Steele, of Napier, wore an exquisite gown of lilly-of-the-valley satin, cut on classicai lines, the shirred bodice having a heart-shaped neckline, slightly gathered on the shoulders, the long fitting sleeves finish nig in points over the aands. The train was long sind pleated and her lovely veil of Brussels lace, arranged from a coronet c^. orange blossoms, was worn over her face. She earried a sheaf > f regale liiies. The bridesmaid, Aliss Lyune Cunning hani, wore a lovely froc'r of ivory taf feta, the bo Tce having a low heartshaped neckline- finished with a f-ill of knife-pleated taffeta, which continued in a line down the bouft'ant skirt to the hem. Tho sleeves were very i'ull anil puffed. Trailers of flame polyanthus roses fell from her bouquet of ar'e roses and carnations and a band of tiny flame roses was worn in her hair. Mr K. H. Bayliss, of Hastings, earried out the duties of best . .an. During tlie service the hymn "Lcad us Heavenly 'atlicr, Leau TJs" and "u Perfect Low.' were sung, Mr P. W. Tombs presidiug at the organ. The reception, which was followed Ly a danee, was held at the Silver Slip-
per, Napier, where bowls of mixed flowers and large vases of hydrangcas had been artistically arranged. Mr and Mrs Steele, assisted by Major and Mrs Elliott, received the guests, Mrs Steele, aunt of the bride, wearing a modcl gowu of black chantilly lace, and a small black toque smartly trimmed with white aigrettes and she earried a bouquet of pink shaded carna tions. Mrs Elliott, mother of the bridegroom, wore a smart ensemble of navy georgette and navy lace, her navy hat being finisned with touches of white, and her bouquet was of pink carnations. When leaving for the Soutn Island where the honeymoon is to be spent, Mrs Elliott travelled in a frock of navy georgelto pin-spotted in white wiui white georgette jabot and eollar, over which was Avorn a flarcl tailored coat of navy blue with a crownless navy halo hai and navy accessories.
