Exodus froui Waipukurau Motor 'Camp in Progress
{From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Now that tho Christmas holidays are over most of the holiday-makers who this year have made full use of the facilities offered at the motor-camp at Waipukurau have returned to their homes. The ground has proved very popular this season, most of the available space being occupied. The camp is maintained by the Waipukurau Borough Council, which makes no charge on those who use it, accommodation being provided free. Now that the stop-bank at the edge of the Tukituik river, which runs beside the camping ground, has been built to prevent flooding which has caused inconvenience in the past to campers, the council proposes to make further improvements to the camping grounds. The camp is situated amid shady trees and gives ready access to the river and the main road. Asphalt tennis courts are also provided. Mount Herbert, about three miles out of Waipukurau, has also proved popular with motorists. A number have camped at what is known as "The Ford," beside the river, at the end of the road, and here also numbers of anglers have tried their luck during the holiday period, some good size trout being caught in the rippling rapids. Kairakau Beach is proving more popular than ever as a camping place this year, particularly with those who are able to take a long holiday until after the New Year.
