Britain's Objective Half Attained

LONDON, Dec. 16. Gas-masks for everyhody is the objfective klready half attained, according to Wing-Gommander Hddsoll, head of the Air Raids Protection Departraent. There.were 20,000j000 stored in 13 depots, 9,000,000 being at London and 4,000,000 at Liverpool, and they would he transferred to sub-depots, he said. Instructors would teach everyone to wear them. If they were handed out for lceeping the rubber would he liable to perish. The risk of firo might he much greater than that of gas. It is proposed to have instructors throughout the country, teaching the people how to handle incendiary bomhs. In spite of jokes, the use of buclcets and spades was a god idea. Wing-Commander Hodsoll added hat warnings would probnbly come witliin less than 10 m'ni uh-h -f a raid. Lord Sempill ur 1 that children bccomo very faiiiii**-r with gas-masks. He suggested an Air Raid Protection Union, ■with a membership of millions.
