Mr and Mrs T. H. Lowry, of Hawke's Bay, are visiting Auckland. Mr. A. E. Donaldson, of Wanganui, has been appointed organising secretary of the Wanganui Agricultural Association. Sir Arthur Eickard arrived at Auckland by the Niagara yesterday afternoon. „He will return to Sydney on J anuary 10. Canon Alfred Hodge, vicar of All Saints, Taradale, left this morning on a holiday visit to Auckland, where he will stay with his son, Mr F. E. Hodge. Mr J. Morling, Chief Judge of Western Samoa, who is at present on furlough in Napier, will return to Samoa, via Pago Pago, early in January, leaving Auckland on January 10. The Eev. E. J. Davies, vicar of Kilbirnie and vicar-designate of St. Paul's has been appoinced honorary canon of the pro-eathedral to succeed Canon P. James. Senior-Sergeant Macnamara, of Gisborne, and formerly of Hastings, accompanied by Mrs Macnamara, who has been spending a short stay in Hastings, left yesterday for Wellington. Mr. E. C. Schnackenberg, assistant engineer, Public Works Department, Auckland, has been elceted an associate member of the American Society of Civil Engineer s.

Mr W. Cuthbertson, of Takapau, has been re-elected by the Hawke'p Bay Education Board as its representativo on the Howard Estate Adyisory Board as from May 28, 1938. ^Professor T. H. Easte'rfield, former director of the Cawthron Institute, who, with Mrs Easterfield, has been visiting England, is returning by the Ormonde, which is due at Sydney on January 13. Mr L. J. Schmitt, who was for many years representatives of the* New Zealand Government in Sydney, and who now holds the position of general manager of the Industries, Commerce and Tourist Department in New Zealand, is visiting Sydney. He will remain in Australia until the middle of January.
