INTERNATIONAL TENNIS

Von Cramm Beats Budge SYDNEY, Dec. 27. The three-day tennis match, Australia against Germany, commeneed to-day. The Quist versus von Cramm fixture was cancelled to permit the Sydney public to see the world niimber one and two, Budge and von Cramm, opposed in an exhibition. Eesults were as follows: — Bromwick defeated Henkel, 6 — 1, 6 — 1, 6 — 4; van Cram defeated Budge, 6 — 1, 6 — 3. Bromwich was superior to Henkel in all departments with the exception of his service. He forced the German wide with pacy ground shots and scored winners in the vaeant court. Henkel's fastest serves and dropshots were easily returned, while he was repeatedly passed at the net. The exhibition match was a very poor affair. Budge did not exert himself at any stage and appeared uninterested. Yon Cramm served magnificent'ly and was steady in other departments of the game.
