ENGLAND'S TEST TEAM

Spin Bowlers Needed, Says Don Bradman LONDON, Dee. 11. Don Bradman, Australia's cricket eaptain, advises England, in a letter to Arthur Gilligan, that spin bowling is more profitable in test cricket than fast bowling. Gilligan, who captained England in 1924-25, read Bradman's letter last night when he was speaking at Southwick at a cricket club dinner. The letter ran: — "Evidently our victory and your recent acquaintance with English cricket lxave given you the impression that Australia, in fine eonditions, will win the Ashes in 1938. "At the same time, I think you will agree that both England and Australia should field stronger teams in 1938. "Your crying need at present is spin bowlers. Australia's attack for years has been based on length and spin. What handsome dividends that policy has paid!" Commenting on this advic.e, Gilligan said that England had relied too much on fast bowlers in the past. "We have some good spin bowlers in this country," he said. "I think it ■would bc a good iilea to put them in the liext test team. 1 e shall see, but I cxpect the selectors will go on playing fast bowlers.'-'
