HOLIDAY TRAVEL
Railway and Motor Services Well Patronised Anticipations of heavy railway traffic on the Napier-Wellington line for the holiday period were fully justified, for yesterday, and again this morning, long trains, all earrying big complements of passengers, passed through Hastings to and from Wellington. This morning's mail train was oue of' the largest ever run, there being 11 passenger*caiTi;agcs, while the special, which ran 20 minutes later, eomprised eight carriages. Both the ordinary and special expresses from the south last evening were exceptionally well patronised and of unusual length. Heavy boolcings have' beeu made for the special night express leaving shortly after 10 o'clock this evening for the south and reports from Wellington and Palmerston North state that the northbound night train has been extensively booked for Hawke 's Bay. Service car offices also report that traffic this year has been exceptionally heavy. "In fact I believe it will be a record season," said one representative. "We have extra cars on the majority of the services and have taken boolcings for all parts of the island. ' '
