(Eeceived v24, 1.30 p.m.) EUGBY, Dec. 23. Tbe report of tbe eontroller of tbe Eoyal Mint states that last year was tbe busiest on tbe mint's history. It struck more than 35,000,000. coins in excess of tbe previous record in 1921. An enormous amount of work was created by tbe abdication of King Edward and tlie accession of King George YI. Over 2000 dies for coins aud medals Avero rendered useless. Describing tbe reasons wby tbe new twelve-sided threepence eoin was relatively little seen in circulation. although well over 30,000,000 bad been minted, tbe eontroller says tbey presumably are being nursed as novelties. The test of tbeir popularity would come wben tbe novelty had worn oif, be isaid.
