Central Board Plans to Extend Supply Beyond Mahoe Station

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Electric power in the first portion of the Tamumu distriet xeticulation wras turned. on by the Central H.B. Electric Power Board yesterday. A further 12 miles is to be construeted immediately after the holidays. 'I'he area in whieh current was turned on yesterday will give supplies to approximately 18 settlers, ineluding the Maori pa at Mataweka. The new line has an attractive appearance, being erected with concrete power poles made afc the board 's works in "Waipukurau." Immediately after the New * "Year holidays the work will be continued for at least another 12 miles, and it is anlicipated that the line will be extended as far as Mahoe station towards the end of February, the board 's secre-tary-manager, Mr G. E. Fqwler, said today. It is probable that the line will be taken well beyond Mahoe station. At a public meeting at Omakere on "Wednesday evening the question of extending the supply along the Long Range road and also to Clareinch was discussea. The meeting was attended by Mr J. 1'attison, a member of the Central H.B. Electric Power Board, and the board 's seeretary-manager and the engineer Mr G. L. Beer. Mr R. Lethybridge presided o\er the meeting, which was very representative. 1 {
