In "Bullets or Ballots," the First National picture which comes to the Regent., Waipawa, for screening to-mor-row night (Christmas Eve), Edward G Eobiiison returns to the screen in a hard boiled role, the like of which has made him famous. His latest characterisation is akin to that of "Little Caesar" — his lirst picture for First Nar tional — only this time he is on the side o'f the law. The picture is the tftory of rackoteers who are supposed to be respectable society leaders, business mon of wealth, politicians of high position aml bankers, men so well known that no one suspects them. They never are seen with any of the crooks who carry out their orders, but contact just one man in the working organisation, wno carries out their orders and delivers the rrocceds of their ill-gotten gains. The siory is by Martin Mooney, the New York ncwspaper man who exposed racketeering in the newspapers, and wa> sent to gaol for thirty days for contenipt ot' ccurt because lie refused to divulge Iho source of his information. He claimod it was his normal riglit not to divulge thc names of persons who gave him information confidentially. Seton I. Miller collaborated with Mooney on the story, and also wrote the scroen play.
