This is duei to the prevailing jjrosperity, the excellent harvests, the absence of industrial troubles, and the recent wage increasesj The chief department stores report unprecedented business and a regulat wave of buying. The heads of transport services al«a report a record exodus of holidaymakers. The Eailway Department fear« that it will be unable adequately to cope with the holiday traffic. The lerial services are taxed to the utmost capacity two weeks ahead. * New South Wales is auracting visit tors from all States owing to its eomt parative immunity from infantile paralysis, which is affecting all the States excepting Western Australia, whara the Government reeently imposed quarantine restrictlono.
