EXCELLENT YIELDS

Paepaetahi Friesians Average 384Ibs. Fat Nineteen pedigree Friesian cows were tested under Government Ofiicial Herd Test last season by Mr. A. F. Perkins, owner of the Paepaetahi herd at Taradale. The average production of the cows tested was 10344.01b. milk and 384.701b. fat in 294 days, a most excellent figure for a lierd which included six two-year-old and five three-year-old heifers. Eight of the cows testsd praduced over 4001b. fat, the following three of these also exceeding the 5001b. mark in the 305 day period: — Paepaetahi Glorious Rosebud (4yrs.), 14164.61b. milk, 533.641b. fat. Paepaetahi Miss Margaret (5yrs)., 13670.31b. milk, 519.561b. fat. Paepaetahi Ormsby Lass (5yrs)., 13743.11b. milk, 513.121b. fat. Of the above cows, Rosebud is by a son of Pioneer Snow Ormsby (imp.) and from Paepaetahi Michaelmas Rosebud^ O.O.R. 9001b. fat, Margaret is by Ahikouka Hengerveld Lad and from Livingstone Margosa C.O.R., 5971b. fat at two years, both championship winners at Hawke's Bay shows, and Lass is by Livingstone Pontiac Pride and from a daughter of Count Ormsby Korndyke Hengerveld (imp.) Paepaetahi Star. a grand-daughter of Pioneer Snow Ormsby (imp.) was the top three-year-old with 475.801b. fat while Paepaetahi Hazel, a daughter of Livingstone Hope De Ko], C.O.R., 637 lb. fat, was the best two-year-old with 3641b. fat.
