Eskdale Farewells Miss Kyle

Last week a farewell afternoon was tendered Miss Ena Kyle by the members of the Eskdale "W omen 's InstiiAxte. Mrs. Williams, president, expressed the regret at the loss of an active member, and on belxalf of the Institute wished Miss Kyle, who is shortly to be married, all future happiness and asked her aeceptance of a pretty pottery bowl. She also presented her with a posy of rosebuds. Miss Kyle suitably xesponded. During the afternoon three amusing | competitions were held, the winners I being Mrs. King, Miss Blair and Miss Florance. Mrs. W. Kirkham, accompanied by Mrs. C. Kirkham, sang "When Song Is Sweet. " . A happy afternoon closed with the siging of " Auld Lang Syne. " On Friday afternoon the hall presented a gay scene when the annual Christmas tree for all local children I was given by the Women 's Institute. I After a sumptuous tea and happy games, Mrs. Williams, president (in uuavoidable absence of Santa Claus), presented each child with their gift from the tree 'and a bag of sweets. Songs and recitations were given by fcrwen I Kyle, Joy Florance, Dick Cliristie, I Tommy Dysart and Max Petersen, after I which the children, led by Mr. FlorI ance, sehoolmaster, gave thanks and I three hearty cheers for the Women 's I Institute.
