CHRISTMAS PARTY HELD IN NAPIER
Ladeo with presents and decorated *vith tinsel, balloons and twinklina lights, a large Christmas tree was the centre of attraction for the bovs ana girls of the Hawke's Pay Children 's Homes last evening, when they wers given a Christmas party in St.'John'e Hall. Nepier. The children entertained with drill displays. vocal solos, mouth organ medleys and grouo singing. Madame Mer--eer, whn conducted the singing was presented with a bouquet of pink carnations by one of the tiny girls, and was thanked by Mr Guy Rchfort, chairman of the committee, for the splendid work she had done in connection with the homes. Mr E. C. Jamieson then screened a most interesting film of the Coronation, the recent interhouse sports and loeal views. At the conclusion of the programme Santa Claus (Mr F. G. Smith) arrived, and, assisted by members of the committee proceeded to distribute the gifts, much to the delight of the children. Tennis racquets, sunhats, swimmxng togs and running shoes were some o± the gifts received, and as the children go into camp at Tutira this week foj their annual holidays, the presents wxll prove most useful. , A tempting supper, which includea | an iced Christmas cake, was then served. The party, which is an annual one, was a great success. The committee responsible for the arrangements was. Mesdames W. Dtowiddie, Chas. Douglas, Guy Eochfort, G. "W. Waterworth, Montgomery-Williams, J. H. Oldlxaro and Misses Collison and H. Ford.
