CLIVE SCHOOL HOLDS PARENTS' DAY
Parents' Day at Clive School was held on Thursday afternoon and was well attended by those interested in the welfare of the school. A short but enjoyable programme of folk dances, drill displays, singing, games and r^citat'ions was given by the pupils, the drill display by all the standard classcs bcing specially comniented upon. The chairman, Mr. Hollyman, gave a brief account of the activities of the committee in their endeavour to procure a new school. He also hoped that arrangements would soon be made for the seuior classes to attend the Manual Training Centre in Napier. After th0 presentation of prizes, parents visited the various rooms to inspect samples of the year's work, and later adjourned to the infant room where afternoon tea was dispensed by the senior girls. Because of the generosity of an interested parent, all the pupils of the infant department received gifts and several books for special prizes were presented for distribution among ihe standards. Special prizes were also presented by Messrs. Thornton and Cartwriglit. Following is the prize-list: Dux Ian Hellyer; Standard 6, J. Hellyer, Gwen ! Lister, Rae Pilelier, Gay Hunia (Mr. Cartwright's prize); Standard 5, Rutb Smyth, Margaret Cushing, Ralph Pilcher; Standard 4, Margaret Hellyer, Bert Anderson, Pat Dockary; Standard 3, Melva Harrison, Fred Harrison, Henry Horne; Standard 2, Gwen Waites, Bob McKay; Standard 1, Stauley Bishop, Ngaire Lister.
