(E-eceived 20, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 19. The Times Barcelona correspondent says that 200' insurgent prisoners, guns and material were captured and many were killed in the Eepublican offensive at Teruel,,on the Aragon front. Then fact that the Eepublic is attacldng is an important indication of the confidence felt by the army. The Barcelona Government forc.tt claim to have completely surrounded Teruel and to have delivered an ultimatuni to civilians to leave imniediately and a demand that combatants should lay down their arms. Eepublican troops from Salamancsi attacked the lines near Teruel, where they were most lightly held, and penetrated a certain depth and lost contaci with their own rear. Eepublican reserves were brought up in an attempt to rescue the advanced troops. A later Barcelona message states that the Eepublieans completely surrounded Teruel city and captured the insurgent trenches in the cemetery on the outskirts of the city. The Admiralty has warned shipowners that mining in Spanish waters has been intensified. Mines extend ten miles from the coast. An insurgent shell killed 14 children and three old men in a street at Madrid and injured 32 people. The Portuguese-Spanish frontier was reopened on Saturday, and the passen ger and goods railway service was reestablished. REBELS CLAIM RECOVERY (Eeceived 20. 2.15 p.m.) SALAMANGA, Dec. 15. TKe rebels claim the recovery of the initiative on the Teruel front and assert that planes inflicted heavy losses and that infantry, counter-attacking, drove back the defenders.
