TIBER FLOODS ROME

Fears of Typhoid Outbreak (Received 20, 8.45 a.m.) ROME, Dec. 19. It is estimated that in Rome alone therex are 7 000 homeless as a result of the rising of the river Tiber causing floods. Several persons wero drowned. The forums of Caesar and Augustue were" flooded, the forum' of Mussolini was threatened, and two towers at either end were all that were visible oi the historic Milvian bridge. The floods were the worst for a century. Blue skies and cold' weather are now easing anxiety, but fears are held concerning an outbreak of typhoid cholera. Medical supplies are being augmented, and city and army medical services have been ordered to stand by. The Tiber is failing.
