EARTHQUAKE LOANS
Proposed Postponement of ' Mr. Nash's Visit According to the Hon. W. E. Barnard, M.P., it is doubtf ul whether the Minister of Finance will be able to postpone his visit to Hawke's Bay in connection with earthquake rehabilitation loans until February, as suggested by the local bodies eoncerned. "Mr. Nash is probably the busiest of all the Ministers, and Parliament will resume on March 1. Further than that, it is certain that a caucus will be held before then. It seems a little tactless, therefore, after the "Minister has agreed to come in January, to suggest that he should be invited to come a month later," said Mr. Barnard on Saturday. In conjunction with Messrs. H. M. Christie and E. L. Cullen, M.P.'s, he had arranged for the Minister to make the visit in January. At'a conference in Hastings, local body representatives had decided to invite the Minister in the latter part of February, a proposal which he would put to Mr. Nash, but without mueh hope of the latter 's being able to accept it.
