"PARTY NEVER MORE UNITED"

-Press Association.)

Labour M.P/s Reply to Report of Split LEFT-WING GR0UP

(By Telegraph-

LEVIN, Last Night. An emphatic denial was given last night by Mr. C. 'L,. Hunter, M.P. for the Manawatu electorate, to the suggestion that a revolt had developed in the ranks of the Parliamentary Labour Party and that this movement would result in the formation of a Left-Wing Group, with tlio Parliamentary UnderSecretary in charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, as its leader. Mr. Hunter was one of those mentioned in the suggested group. "In the first place I want to give the suggestion an emphatic denial," said Mr. Hunter in conversation with a Press representative last evening. "As far as our party is concerned, both in and out of the House, there is no possible chance of that kind of thing taking place. The party to-day is welded together more than at any other period in the history of our movement. "I do not know the reason for the report that was published, because not at any period has there been the semblance of a split, revolt or even dissatisf action, " Mr. Hunter proceeded. 4 ' Our time is taken up with bringing down measures that will be of benefit to the whole of New Zealand and its people. This, in olir opinion, is of paramount importance. Naturally our views mftst alter, but it is only by that difference of opinion that any major measure can be adopted. "Any opposing party would endefcvour to create the psychology that there was a split or revolt in the dominant party of the .day," Mr. Hunter concluded. "It has been done the world over and is a prominent part of political propaganda."
