CIVIC CENTRE IN NAPIER
Reporting having considered the previous council's plans for a proposed Civie Centre, which covers the two blocks at present biseeted by Browning street, the Beserves Committee, at the Napier Borough Council meeting on Wednesday stated that it considered that it was too ambitious to hope for the amalgamation of the two blocks, and agreed that a modern Courthouro on the southern block would not be out of lcefe'ping with the council offices, art gallery and museum and possibly a library. It was recommended that the council decide, when the leases fall in, to rcbuild the southern block, partieularly new couneil offices, and that the Government be advised that, if they contemplated a new Courti.ouse its architecture should be discussed with the council so that it will conform wit' the other buildinggs, The recommendations were adopted.
