WATER-CONSUMPTION RISES.
An increase of approximately 4,000,000 gallons of water was consumed in Hastings last month, comfmred with that for the month of November of Jast year, according to tbe montbly returns of Mr C. E. Evans, borough engino *, presented nt tlie meeting of the Borougb Couneil last night. Mr Evans reported that last month 48,650,000 gkllons of water were pumped, as against 44,960,000 in November of last year. Tbe rainfall for the two periods nnder review was 1.56 inches and 1.91 inches respectively. The Havelock Nortb Town Board ptunped 9000 gallons in excess of tbeir Ujra i^uirements, ^
