THE TERRACES
Still Keeping Its Welcome Warm Even in the old days of "coach-and-hope-you-got-there" transport, the Terraces Hotel at Taupo had a warm welcome for guests. Sinee it has been taken over by genial Mr "Johnny" Sheehan and renovated to the high standard of comfort and homeliness he has always managed to achieve wherever he has played "Mine Host", the Terraces has a warmer welcome stiil to otfer. Not only do the guests feel thoroughly at home, but they soon begm to realise that the house is ideally 3ituated from the point of view of tho person who wants a peaeeful holiday. Set in a grove of stately pines, oif the main road, there is an air of friendly seclusion about the plaee. Hot mineral baths, deliciously refreshing after a long tramp or an outing on lake Oi river, are within a stone 's throw of the door and at the disposal of the guests. lron, soda, sulphur and spout inineial baths, all piping hot, and the beautiful Emerald swimming pool, 50 yards long, offer all that one could ask in that respect. Moreover, if trout-fisU-mg is the object of one's visit, Mr Sheehan is always ready with assistance and advice, the more valuab'e because it comes from a sportsman with many years' experience. No matter whether one ealls for a nrnute or stays for a month, one finds *hat Mr Sheehan sees to it that oue is comfortable and generally well looked after. There is always the impres-sif-n, strongest when one has to leave, that one has not stayed at an hotel 10 fbe ordinarv sense of the word, but that one has been the guest of very kmdly and considerate friends.
